I've finally got a new gallery up for you to check out (Nonpoint - amazing live band! there new album is really f***ing good - go cop it - SUPPORT!)

Jeez it's been over a month since I've put any new photos up (I've been super busy with other projects (*cough*-my book-*cough*)

Anyway, I'm going to be adding more new galleries in the next week and some new photos to already existing galleries (wait tell you see these shots - fuhgedaboutit)

If your seeing a watermark on some of the older photos ie: "Scott Stewart (c) url: www.elementzofsoul.net - That was the 1st version of www.scottstewartphotos.com - I'm in the process of cleaning those photos up on the site...

btw if your thinking about going to see Blade 3 - DON'T!

My book is coming along nicely...there are soooo many photos to choose from...I'm hoping everything is completed and I can release it the 1st of the year in January - After much debate and me changing my mind every 5-freaking seconds (ADD is a beautiful thing - people keep telling me there's drugs for this lol) - I've decided to name it "BUY THIS BOOK DAMMIT!" actually I've opted for "Eye Contact" who knows I might change my mind and call it something else next week...

I'll keep the site updated with progress on this project...

Stay Well
Scott =)

I am completely speachless @ the events that unfolded in Ohio last night...this is very sad

The world & the Metal genre has lost an amazing person & guitar player...

I had the opportunity to meet Darrell a number of years ago when he was on tour with Pantera. They were supporting the "Vulgar Display of Power" album. He was the most laid back mellow dude, very gracious and funny as hell...

This was a horrible censeless act of violence...

My thoughts & prayers go out to ALL of the families and friends involved in this atrocity...

peace & blessings

*segway*

What do I want for X-Mas?

To name a few that made the cut: Sonny Rollins, Maynard Ferguson, Greg Osby, James Carter, Russell Gunn, Bobby McFerrin & Jack DeJohnette, Jeremy Pelt etc etc.

This Calendar took a great deal of time and preparation (coffee & diet cokes) to put together and I want to thank my web site designer Jeff Gerew for all of his hardwork - Dude you are a very gifted cat!! (Go Sabres!)

Enjoy!

What's Up (hope your all doing well!)

I went and saw one of my favorite bands on the planet last night www.celldweller.com - They were mind blowing! There such a great live band - They should be fucking HUGE! and will be someday (actually they should stay a cult favorite, if they got huge and everybody listened to them I probably wouldn't dig them anymore lol) - My only beef with the show was that it should have been @ another venue - They played @ a shitty little local club and there type of live performance needs to be seen on a big stage with a ton of lights and smoke machines, and lots of room for them to jump around - I took a few rolls of film @ the gig so as soon as I get my film back from the lab I'll publish a new gallery - If your scratching your head going who the fuck is www.celldweller.com ?? Check out there site and get hip - Trust me if you have ears and an open mind you'll dig them (there brilliant!! & super nice guys)

For those inquiring via e-mail in regards to prints and availability of some images - Please have a look on the home page @ the bottom there is a Copyright tab "click" on that and look for the "limited edition prints page" that will give you the scoop...

e-mail me if you have any ?'s =^)>

Sup,

I've been slacking on my Blog entrees lately - I'll have a lil more time to post now that my schedules not as insane, so I'll be talking more shit...

So dig this, I just got the 20g iPOD in the mail over the weekend - I ordered it on line through Apple...they throw in an engraving on the back (optional) you also get headphones, firewire etc... I gotta say this "The iPOD is the F*****g bomb!" - I loaded it up this weekend with 40 of my favorite albums and still have a TON of space for photos, spreadsheets...whateva! - Now I've never been a big fan of the downloading thing, I'm prolly one of the only people left who still buys there music *shrugs* - Ya know I just really dig going to my favorite local INDIE wrecka sto and looking through the used bins or going to cop that must have new release on the Tuesday when it drops...The best is when you spend a few hours looking through old vinyl and you find those rare out of print albums that no one has a clue about (and they only cost you a few dollars) that's a huge rush - I'm a BIG FAN of VINYL and none of that re-issued crap, they have to be originals - Anyway, the thing that has me so jazzed about the iPOD is that I can take just about all of my albums with me anywhere I go and there right @ my fingertips - It's a beautiful thing! - I'm debating I might even sign up for emusic.com they give you like 60 songs for $14.00 a month *shrugs* we'll see...

I finally got a chance to see Underworld this weekend - This is one of those flicks I wanted to catch in the theatres when it was out but never made it...Cool movie, some of the fight seens were blah, but overall I dug it - The sequel should be intense...

Check out the Moments in Grace gallery - I just published it last night - There new album "Moonlight Survived" has some of the best vocals I've heard in eons...Great band more here ---> www.momentsingrace.com

Tuesday, August 17, 2004

New Mastodon gallery added - Also updated the Fear Factory & Calvin Richardson galleries with new photos...

Look for a gallery with more of my abstract photos to be published on the web page soon - I think you'll find some of the images interesting...

Sunday, July 25, 2004

I just got back from seeing Bourne Supremacy (not bad) - I should have waited and went to see Manchurian Candidate...

New photos added this weekend from Sam Kininger, Earth Wind & Fire & Improm2  - I caught EW&F last week @ the Rochester Music Fest - Had a great time, I was a little skeptical seeing them play...but they still have those great voices and played there hearts out!

Looking forward to seeing Moments in Grace on August 1st (great new band! - more info here www.momentsingrace.com) &  Fear Factory on August 4th (So glad these guys are back ripping shit up! - There new album is brutal! - more info here www.fearfactory.com

I can't believe summer is almost over! WTF! It flew by...

Here's a list of albums I've got in rotation and endorse fully!

The Roots - The Tipping Point (It may take a few listens but this album will get you!) There on tour with MMW & 311 (weird lineup) - More here www.okayplayer.com - I'm looking forward to the 2nd "Okayplayer Photographer month" coming up in August - It was great having my work on the site last year - It's also a wonderful place for fellow shutterbugs to get there work out there so e-mail them starting Monday if you want a shot to get your work displayed...

Moments in Grace - Moonlight Survived

Jeremy Pelt - Insight (one of the best trumpet players on the scene today)

Prince - Musicology (best studio album from him in 10 years - worth the loot just to hear "Call My Name")

Amen - Death Before Musick (one of the best albums of the year - brutal! also a fucking great live band!! - more info here www.refuseamen.com )

Amel Larrieux - Bravebird (gorgeous voice - more here www.amellarrieux.com)

PJ Harvey - Uh Huh Her (Her rawest album since Dry - She wrote, produced and played all of the instruments except for percussion on this one - Awesome album)

It would be nice if Fishbone got there shit together and put out a new studio record this year!

If you didn't know HELMET IS BACK! How cool is this!?!?! They have a new studio album that drops in Sept and there on tour right after that to support it - I can't wait...

Also just a reminder for you collectors there is a "limited edition prints" page up on the site - On the home page scroll down to the "Copyright info tab" click on that and then when that page opens @ the very bottom is a limited edition prints tab v'iola...

I keep forgetting to do this to - I want  give a BIG THANK YOU to Jason Koransky editor @ Downbeat for having me cover the Rochester International Jazz Fest this year "still the best jazz zine in the world!"

Sometimes even though I've been doing this for 10 years I have a hard time getting press credentials - What a pain in the ass it is to shoot nowadays you need to get a photo pass and a spot on the list for whatever show you want to cover and you have to clear that with everyone and there mother, fucking publicist, management etc etc etc - Then you get to the show and they only give you three fucking songs to shoot! - What a joke! (I'm off on a rant) I've got more to say on this later....right now I'm going to listen to this new Russell Malone & Benny Green album...

peace
Scott

Saturday, July 10, 2004

I'm updating my site with more galleries this weekend from the Jazz Fest - I've also dug out some old Frank Black photos that I'll be putting up...

Jeremy Pelt is using a few of my photos on his site have a look here ---> www.peltjazz.com - Mr Pelt is a brilliant trumpet player if you do not own his "Close to the Heart" and "Insight" albums go pick them up - Your going to love them!

Sunday, June 27, 2004

I had a chance to publish a few galleries this weekend from my coverage @ the Rochester International Jazz Festival - You can see new galleries from:

"Russell Malone & Benny Green": - There show @ the Kilbourn Hall was one of the highlights of the week - I remember vividly Mr Malone playing an old Ray Charles classic "I Can't Stop Loving You" in tribute to the R&B legend and after the final notes were played there wasn't a dry eye in the house...The crowd erupted into a standing ovation that lasted five minutes... They are two of the best players on the scene - Go and pick up "Jazz @ the Bistro" this album really showcases there playing....Enjoy the gallery

"Jeremy Pelt": It's hard to believe this cat is only 26...I caught both his sets @ The MAX and Mr Pelt and hid band were absolutely brilliant - There's something about Jeremy's stage presence and stance when he plays that envokes images of the legendary Miles Davis - Mr Pelt's "Close to My Heart" album has not left my cd player all month! - If you haven't had the chance to hear any of this album go pick it up - His cense of melody and song/string arrangements are wonderful...

"James Blood Ulmer": The legend! This gentleman has played with some of the greats...It was a real treat to see him play - Just Blood his guitar and that trademark voice, brilliant!

I will be adding more galleries this week from "Rite of Strings", "Walter Wolfman", "Melvin Sparks" and more...

Friday, June 18, 2004

I added a new DJ Rap gallery the other day - Have a look (the photos came out hot!) - I'm picking up my photos up from the Jazz Festival this weekend (I shot 24 rolls of film @ the Fest - wow!) - I've really got to get my own dark room set up =)

Saturday, June 05, 2004

Yesterday 6/04/04 was the 1st night of the RIJF I missed David Sanborn (never really been a big fan of the la la jazz anyway *shrugs*) but I did catch an exceptional set from Matthias Lupri Group w/Donny McCaslin - Matthias is an amazing Modern jazz vibraphonist (check him out live if you have the opportunity, you'll be kicking yourself if you miss it) - Tonight is going to be amazing Sam Kininger & Oscar Petterson! can't wait...

I had a chance to catch DJ Rap last night after shooting @ the fest she is even more gorgeous in person & gives great big hugs!! - Her set was sick as hell, mixing skills are flawless, track selection was wicked - The club had a proper sound system and the vibe was lovely...She played @ a killer new club here in the City called "ELEMENT" (I want to big up Herb! thanx for taking care of me @ the club your the bomb!)

Allright gotta bounce I'm off to get ready for the Jazz Fest tonight...hopefully there's going to be some great after hours music @ the Crown Plaza, you never now who's going to show up and sit in down there...

~sending positive vibes~

Sup Ya'll

I just got in from seeing one of my hereos in concert tonight - Vernon Reid played in town with Masque and it was the most AMAZING show I've seen in ages - His tone, technique and playing are brilliant...He is a God!! I had a chance to REALLY talk with him after the bands set and he was the nicest, most down to earth articulate cat you could meet, we had a wonderful conversation about Hendrix, Miles and the state of music today...He is truly the bomb - Thank god for musicians and beautiful souls like Vernon...

I think I got some great shots of the show tonight - I'll have a gallery up from the gig this week...

You must go buy there new album "Known Unknown" right now, what are you doing still reading this go out and buy it NOW!

Thursday, April 22, 2004

I've gotten a few e-mails in regards to some folks not seeing all of the images loaded when looking @ a gallery - I'm working on a format that will fix that - In the meantime if you get to a gallery and there are a few images not showing just right click and refresh, that should do it (yes it's that simple)...

If the problem persists give me a shout and let me know which gallery you found the issues with...

I just did a scrub in all of the galleries and everything should be cool @ this point, but *shrugs* there may still be bugs until I get the "pre-loaded-images" update implemented...

peace
Scott =^)>
