I threw up a few Briggs photos from the other night (Music IV)...Also shot the Dropkick Murphy's, I'll add a few photos from them as well...

I watched 28 Weeks Later last night, it was cool not something I'd watch more then once...I'm going to try and stay up for 1408, I'm a big John Cusack fan...

This week I'm shooting The Shiny Toy Guns, The Casualties and The Gore Gore Girls...

$3.50 a gallon huh? It's On!!

Wednesday, November 14, 2007

Big hugs and smoochs to everyone for ALL of the B-Day wishes, you rawk!

I turned 36 on 11/08...I'm frick'n old...

So dig this, I was going to drive to Buffalo and shoot the Cult tonight, however opted to pass...let me break it down for ya'...

Generally whatever magazine or paper I'm shooting for will work out all of the details before I arrive @ the venue ie: photo pass, am I shooting with the band before they play or do I need to book some studio time? what are some of the concepts for the shoot etc etc...

So I speak with Cara the bands PR person and she says everything is a go...now even though this was discussed it's always a good idea to triple check details, you don't want to get to a location and no one has a clue who you are...she leaves me Mitch's number and I give him a quick shout just to get the bands set time so I can plan my evening, in my experience some TM's are cool and some are not...fast forward to the afternoon, I get a call from Cara asking me if I called Mitch "The Bitch" (the Cults tour manager) to which I replied yes...

I left him a vm asking for the bands set time, is that a problem?

Cara then says "YOU SHOULD NEVER CALL MITCH because he's very busy and now he's blowing a gasket because you called him...

Jeezus H Christ I just need the bands set time. I'm driving an hour to the gig and want to plan on what time I'm leaving etc etc...

Cara says "Well I just got a very nasty e-mail from him, please don't call him all correspodence should go through me from now on"

No worries, don't get your panties in a bunch hon, so do you know what time the band is going on then!?!

No I don't...

Wow! WTF!

So he's really that busy huh?

Let me see if I understand this...in the time it took him to type up his crybaby bullshit e-mail to you he couldn't have just rung me up and said

"Hey Scott the bands set time is @ 9:30"

Mitch sounds like a douchebag and I'm totally turned off now and don't even want to shoot the band...

Anyways...Tomorrow I'm doing a shoot with the Briggs and on Saturday I'll be shooting Branford Marsalis...

Hey,

I had a chance to kick it with Christian McBride on Sunday...He's a really cool cat, it was a real pleasure to interview and shoot him...I'll put up a link to the story once it's complete and published...I added a few pics from the McBride shoot to my Music IV port, have a look...

There's a new design vibe on the home page...you can grab the images and move them around before double clicking to enter the portfolios...also added a 4th gallery as well

Hey!

It's been ages since I've updated my news page...

The home life has been super hectic, my family has been blessed with a new addition, a beautiful baby boy...

Ladies and Gentlemen on 9/18/07 @ 10:41am Kevin Thomas Stewart (the next Guitar God) was born into this world...

Jordan and Kev'ee Kev

Big Sister and huge Fishbone fan

Later this month I'll be shooting Pat Metheny and Christian McBride, also doing a shoot and interview with From Autumn to Ashes and the Bad Brains...

Next month is going to be hella cool...I'm shooting 7dust again on the 2nd and on the 14th I've got a shoot set up with the Cult...I haven't heard there new album yet, but a few friends have told me it's a lot better than there last album which was dreadful...

The new Prong is awesome, go cop it!

On the 17th of Nov. I'm shooting Branford Marsalis...

Gotta jet, be cool!

So I went and saw Tommy Lee spin electro house last night and...um...let me just say I've never been a really big fan of Motley Poo...I'm not gonna front though I did have the 1st album and played the hell out of "Live Wire" in my high school years *shrugs*

I like my metal HEAVY, with no additives and poseurs...

Anyway my homie Dorian was throwing the party and a night out with drinks, half naked broads and laughs equals good times...

All bullshit aside I was intrigued, I heard he would have a drum kit set up and play a lil on that and spin as well...the drum thing was a no go and him playing the DJ role was a joke...DJ Aero no clue who he is did the actual mixing while Tommy held things down on the effects processor yep, the effects processor...lol

I don't think he cares enough about "house" music to try and educate himself on it's origins does he even know how to read?...I'm sure that's not his intention either, dudes rich and can do what-thee-fuck-ever he wants...essentially trying to stay relevant by bandwagoning...

I put up a snap in my Music II port of Tommy Lee *yawn*

Muhfucka's!!!

What's good?

I shot Everytime I Die last night, there new album drops soon. They played some of the newer material last night, I dug what I heard and so will you so don't be a punk and DL the album off the net, go buy it and support...lots of retards crowd surfing and general mayhem...I got destroyed...also shot The Bled...I'll put up some shots later tonight

Tomorrow I've got a shoot with a band called Dropclutch I'm doing the photos for there new ep which was produced by Billy Graziadei, also shooting Suicide City...they rule!

Sup,

I didn't get a chance to shoot 24-7 Spyz over the weekend (I'm really bummed about missing the gig), my daughter (four years old) had a cold and I had to take care of my baby...

I shot Shadows Fall on Monday check port III for pics, if I had brought my water proof camera I would have taken some pics of Gwar as well...

This weekend I'm shooting Madina Lake and Mindless Self Indulgence...

Wednesday, August 08, 2007

I've had a few of my clients ask if I would cover the Warped Tour again this year, the line-up looks excellent (as usual), so it looks like I'll be doing that on the 10th...

On the 11th I'm shooting the in-freeging-credible 24-7 Spyz, one of my faves...I get sooo nostalgic when I put on Harder Than You or Gumbo Millenium. It was such a great time in my life (1988 - 1992). I was DJ'n at this dope club where they fed me drinks and paid me very well, plus the ass in this place was fuhgedaboutit (twas a beautiful t'ing). On top of that the club owners gave me free reign to play whateva I wanted in my DJ set. So I was essentially all over the map, playing a lil De La Soul and Rakim here and there mix Depeche Mode and the Cure into that with some Bauhaus or New Order, then bust out the Public Enemy, Slick Rick, Sly and Fishbone. I was having a lot of fun partying and shit...anyway, I'm really looking forward to seeing them play...I haven't seen the Spyz since *scratches head* 1990 I think? Gumbo Millenium had just dropped...I remember that gig vividly, they played the illest version of the classic Bad Brains tune "Reignition"...I also remember crowd surfing at the gig which is the dumbest thing ever, I had just copped this tight new shirt from the Oaktree, that was thee place for gear back in the late 80's, my shirt got tore the fuck up, I was so vexed...

I don't know if I've mentioned Jimi is filming this gig at the Haunt and it will be released at some point on DVD...

I had an absolute blastie blast @ Sevendust saturday night! Consumed many Jack and Cokes and took a boat load of pics...

7dust sounded amazing, they always kill it live...another perk to the live 7dust experience is the ass, there's always a couple two tree hotties in the audience...the honey's love them some dust...It was cool to see Sonny Mayo rock'n out, he fits perfectly with the band...it's been a minute since I've shot him, the last time I saw him play he was still with Amen...

I threw up a few Sevendust, and Diecast photos in my Music III portfolio...I've got soooo many shots from the gig, I'll alternate the images every few days to give ya' something fresh to look at...

I still haven't gotten confirmation on my Bad Brains shoot yet.

Megaforce Records the bands new label has told me the band is inundated with interviews and blah blah blah...So I'm essentially waiting for them to give me a date and time...I'll update my blog when I get the skinny

This Saturday I'm shooting Unearth

On the 21st I'll be shooting Juliette Lewis & the Licks. I've never been a huge fan, she's a much better actress then musician and that's not saying a lot...granted she was cool in Cape Fear and Natural Born Killers and aesthetically she's not a bad looking broad, nothing I'd bring home to moms...She would still get smashed, let me put it another way, she's the kind of chick you wouldn't kick outta bed for eating crackers ya dig? Wow, I sound like an asshole huh?

Musically she's quite inept, what she lacks in chops she makes up for with short dresses and high heels. If I'm in the mood for this kinda thing I'll just throw on a Plasmatics or Polly Jean album...

Anywho, on the 28th I'm shooting Sevendust...

I've also got a shoot with Q-tip coming up...

Monday, June 25, 2007

Yo Peoples,

I hope you've been enjoying your summer....

A'ight so dig this, I got a call from my homie Jimi Hazel guitar player/vocalist for 24-7 Spyz he wanted to give me a heads up...the band is playing a gig at The Haunt on August 11th...

He asked if I'd be interested in shooting the band...fuck yea, I would love to!

Sheeeeit I haven't seen the Spyz play since the early 90's, when Gumbo Millenium first dropped...

Jimi mentioned the show will be filmed, edited and in your face!

New Bad Brains!

Monday, June 18, 2007

I was @ the RIJF on Friday and my plan was initially going to be a shoot with Don Byron @ The Kilbourn Hall, the lighting in this place is awful...it does have a lot of character, gorgeous natural woods and beautiful architecture...Don had a few media folks taking up his time so that put the kabash on my shoot...Lame!

Maceo Parker didn't happen, his people don't return e-mails.

I kept it moving and caught Omar Sosa's 10:00pm set @ the Max, nice vibe in the restaurant. I could do without the pseudo-intellectual trendy people and over priced drinks, food...Sosa rocked it!! I had some time booked with him on Saturday to shoot @ the Hotel...that didn't happen...I never got in until 3:30 Saturday morning and I was sooo NOT in the mood to shoot @ 12:30 in the afternoon...I'll catch him next time...I did run into Toots at the Crowne Plaza for the after hour party, he looked great, I took a few shots of him chilling outside the hotel...

I've got a bunch of prints to go through, I'll post some new pics up when I get a minute...I did throw up one pic of Toots hanging out...check the Music II portfolio

Thursday, June 14, 2007

I've added a few Christian Scott photos to my Music II portfolio, have a look...

I've got a ton of b&w rolls of film in my bag from the Deftones and Christian Scott shoots, just need to get them printed up...

Christian was the shit! Really cool cat...we need to party

Tonight I'm skipping Wynton *yawn* Marsalis and shooting Jason Moran and Corey Harris...

Wednesday, June 13, 2007

I just got through reading a brilliant and frightening book by James Kunstler called "The Long Emergency"

News flash

Oil is running out and we've got no back up plan...good times...peak oil, coupled with global warming should make the 21st Century a stone cold gas man...

I've got a shoot with Christian Scott later this evening...I dig this cat, he's an exceptional trumpet player...check em' out

Cheers

Tuesday, June 12, 2007

What Up,

I shot the Deftones last night at this shit hole in Niagara Falls called the Dome Theater...there set was excellent, light show was cool...check portfolio I for new pics

Thursday, June 07, 2007

I got a call from Corey Harris yesterday, he's a really cool laid back cat.

I'm setting up a time to shoot and chat with him next week.

I've also gotten confirmation from Jason Moran, Omar Sosa and Christian Scott...it's gonna be a busy week, I'm really looking forward to shooting these guys...

Off to dinner...Sushi!!

Be Well
Scott

Friday, June 01, 2007

On deck, I'm going to be interviewing and shooting the Bad Brains for OKP...I probably shouldn't be saying anything about this yet...but I had to let the cat out of the bag, I'm sooo freeging pumped!...as soon as everything has been finalized and published I'll put up a link...you know how I roll!

The Rochester International Jazz Fest starts next week *yawn* the lineup this year is less then stellar...actually it sucks for the most part...If you don't have a press pass like myself (Jean Dalmath I'm waiting, wtf is the hold up!?!) Get ready to dig deep in your wallets cause you'll need to pony up a c-note, and what does that give you? Well, you'll have access to the artists performances in an intimate club setting, that is if the venue is not @ capacity, which 9 times out of 10 it is...have fun being turned away like a herd of sheep, wandering off to the next club where you'll be turned away from there as well...good times...nice work Nugent

A lot of the artists have already been here and sucked the first time, so why bring them back? ie: Jean Luc Ponty, Bill Frisell and Dave Brubeck...the new additions Jerry Lee Lewis and Wynton Marsalis bore me to tears...

I will be shooting; Geri Allen, Jimmy Cobb, Jason Moran, Christian Scott, Maceo Parker, Corey Harris and Toots and the Maytals @ the Fest

Also shooting the Deftones on 6/11...they always kill it, I haven't shot them since last year it'll be good to see them again...

the rest of the month

OK GO

Cherry Poppin' Daddies

Robert Cray Band

Senses Fail

Philip D Fisher *former drummer of Fishbone*

I was just out and about with the squeeze and my daugther...we had dinner and stopped at one of our favorite ice cream joints Abbott's (there Vanilla custard rules!) I was getting ready to order and I saw Dennis Casey guitarist for Flogging Molly and his wife chilling having a cone...It was great to see him, he's a local boy done good...All you Flogging Molly fans get ready, Dennis says the band will be recording there new album in Irelenad over the next few weeks, then they'll be out doing the Warped Tour for the summer...

OKP published my Fishbone story, have a look

I'll be back to post some details from the God Forbid, Hatebreed show...

Friday, May 18, 2007

Yo yo yo,

Just picked up Living Colour's first live dvd. The performance was captured in 1080i high definition and is presented in 16:9 widescreen format. Basically, it looks and sounds killer...bonus features include an interview with Vernon and still photographs of the bands performance, the pics are average nothing spectacular...they should have asked me to cover the show...

I'm shooting God Forbid and Hatebreed later this evening...it's been ages since I've shot either band...All of Hatebreed's albums sound the same, they've essentially regurgated "Satisfaction is the Death of Desire" for the past 10 years *yawn*

On the 29th I'm shooting AHC...

I may fly to Vegas on the 27th to shoot Fishbone?

The Fishbone show in Boston got cancelled (not sure what happened there) Jeremy the bands tour manager didn't feel like talking about it...It was great to see Angelo and Wood, it's been ages since I've seen them play, they looked and sounded great...

Still waiting to get my shots back from the lab, I pick them up today...I took some cool band pics, Norwood said during the shoot "We really need a new band promo photo" that's why I'm here!...I also interviewed Angelo for Okayplayer as soon the stories been published I throw a link up...I've been doing a lot interviews lately, it's odd I'm usually there just to shoot, I kinda dig doing the interviews...I'd dig it more if I was making money at it...

The new BRMC is out, personally I think it's there best...

New Fishbone album "Still Stuck in Your Throat" is out...if you like what you hear go BUY it!

They also have a new video out "Let Dem Ho's Fight"

May 4th I'm shooting Talib Kweli...

May 5th I'm flying into Boston to shoot Fishbone on a boat...This should be a lot of fun...cruising around Boston harbor while consuming large quantities of beverage, with Fishbone as the house band = good times

May 6th I'll fly back into NY and drive to Buffalo to shoot the band again...I haven't shot the Bone since 2002, I'm really looking forward to seeing them play live again...there one of the best live bands on the planet

Alt Pick rules!

Just stumbled across this quote from Tony Blair, he's speaking on the Global Warming issue. Please do what you can to help stop global warming...

"What is now plain is that the emission of greenhouse gases . . . is causing global warming at a rate that began as significant, has become alarming and is simply unsustainable in the long-term. And by long-term I do not mean centuries ahead. I mean within the lifetime of my children certainly; and possibly within my own. And by unsustainable, I do not mean a phenomenon causing problems of adjustment. I mean a challenge so far-reaching in its impact and irreversible in its destructive power, that it alters radically human existence."

Congrats to Davis Guggenheim and Al Gore on winning an Oscar!

It's about time Scorsese got a freeging Oscar...took the academy long enough...

I published a few Head Automatica & k-os photos...have a look

Okayplayer used a few of my k-os shots on there news page today...

Saturday, February 24, 2007

I'm listening to Saigon Kick's - Water album on my iPod at an ear bleeding decibel...My lord, I haven't listened to this disc in years...It's f**king brilliant! I forgot how great these songs are...dare I say classic, sounds just as cool now as it did back in the early 90's...here's my little tip for you not in the know, go cop this album on Amazon (you can get one used for 52 cents, you can't get a pack of gum for that much) - What the hell is Jason doing?!? You should be making music brother! Bring Saigon Kick back!

Have you watched this movie yet? Well ya need to...so get to it

Al Gore, ya know the guy who was president for a blink until the chimp stole the election from him...man what a farce that election was...What in gods name is this fool thinking?!? C'mon now, lets not kid ourselves there is no denying Bush is thee absolute worst president ever and for so many reasons, um yea lets see what can I do to serve my country while in office...hey I know, lets tell a myriad of lies and go start a war with this country for no reason whatsoever...we'll say we're fighting terror...our soldiers and Iraq citizens are dying for oil...

Mr. Gore aka the guy who should be president did a stellar job presenting the facts, his presentation is informative, compelling and frankly scary as hell, if we don't do something about the very real Global Warming issue that we are causing there are going to be some heavy ramifications.

I had a chance to shoot Head Automatica the other night. It was great to see Daryl again, I haven't seen him in ages, not since the Snocore tour a number of years ago when he played with his other band Glassjaw. I swear that dudes got a photographic memory, he knew exactly who I was...The shots came out great...The guitar player in the band, I forget his name, asked me if I was using a digital camera. I said "What's that? bro I'm old school, strictly film for me"...Ok, I do some high end digtial work but essentially use my 20D for a light meter (how lame is that, 1200 bucks for a f**king light meter!?!)...the band looked and sounded great, I like this project Daryl's doing, it allows him to stretch out and do some song writing that wouldn't fit with the Glassjaw aesthetic...

Shot k-os last night in a college dining room, it had a very Breakfast Club vibe to it (you remember that flick right?) a lot of TRL girls in the front row with there Gym Class Hero t-shirts on...k-os played only a half hour set, wish it was more...he opened the gig, which I thought was odd...his band was excellent. I had a chance to chit chat with him after the show, he's a very articulate cat...my homie did an interview with him for a nationally published zine...I did the photo thing...no candids just live pics, I was going to ask to snap a few shots after the interview but the vibe didn't feel right and the tour manager Andrew Brereton made it clear that Kevin usually isn't in the mood to take photos after his set. Oh really? This piece is for a nationally published magazine and he's not in the mood?!? GTFOOHWTBS! He played 30 freeging minutes, I don't think he even broke a sweat, c'mon now...the bullshit I have to deal with...

I changed the 2nd shot of Thursday and put a new one in it's place (Music II port)

I have a ton of photos to put up from Russell Malone, Head Automatica and k-os...I was also debating on putting up a few pics from my lowrider shoot, we'll see...actually I might just send a few shots to Ross, he digs asian chicks...

What Up Muhfuckas!!

Shot Lupe Fiasco last night, the show was a'ight, he's a young cat and puts on an ok live show...he'll get better as he gets older...Opener Rahzel should NOT of had a full set, he went on waaaay to long...

Had my shoot for *can't tell you the magazine yet, until the images are published* basically it went down like this...Lowrider (bike), Cutie (Nikkie "You're sooo f**k'n funny!!" -- "It's really f**king cold in here!!" Mangus, you are a total sweetheart, thank you for being so hella cool, I had a blast!)

Big ups also to Danny and Scott @ Skyehigh for the use of your store and lowrider, you cats are the shit!

I'm shooting Russell Malone this Friday and Saturday (stoked for that!)

Getting ready to bounce out for dinner and a flick...be safe

peace & blessings

Thursday, February 01, 2007

I got to the Thursday gig late last night, still ended up having an hour of downtime before the shoot, so I got my drink on...ran into a few of my buds I have'nt seen in ages, we chatted about music and chicks...boring

The band is super laid back...really nice guys...I had two minutes *literally* to shoot them before they went on stage...

I didn't have a chance to catch up with Murder By Death, may re-schedule and shoot the band in a month or two when they open up for the Reverend Horton Heat...

Shooting Lupe Fiasco and Rahzel tomorrow night...

Monday, January 29, 2007

Had a killer weekend, went and shot an indie band in Canada on Saturday (had a blast!) - I'll put a link up to the photos when I get them back from the lab.

Pushed my Model, Lowrider shoot off until this coming Saturday.

I'll be shooting Thursday and Murder By Death on Wed and Lupe Fiasco on Friday of this week.

Also adding a sales page to the site for limited edition prints, should have that up in a few days.

I got a nice e-mail from the Guitar player with Flogging Molly - Dennis Casey

I must say he has excellent taste...

Hi Scott,

I wanted to take a second and tell you how great of a photographer I think you are. I got a copy of the photo you took of me and it had your web site on the bottom, so I checked it out. Great stuff.

Do you work out of Rochester?

Well I just wanted to drop you an email and let you know I really like your work.

Maybe we can work together again.
