Sup,
I've been slacking on my Blog entrees lately - I'll have a lil more time to post now that my schedules not as insane, so I'll be talking more shit...
So dig this, I just got the 20g iPOD in the mail over the weekend - I ordered it on line through Apple...they throw in an engraving on the back (optional) you also get headphones, firewire etc... I gotta say this "The iPOD is the F*****g bomb!" - I loaded it up this weekend with 40 of my favorite albums and still have a TON of space for photos, spreadsheets...whateva! - Now I've never been a big fan of the downloading thing, I'm prolly one of the only people left who still buys there music *shrugs* - Ya know I just really dig going to my favorite local INDIE wrecka sto and looking through the used bins or going to cop that must have new release on the Tuesday when it drops...The best is when you spend a few hours looking through old vinyl and you find those rare out of print albums that no one has a clue about (and they only cost you a few dollars) that's a huge rush - I'm a BIG FAN of VINYL and none of that re-issued crap, they have to be originals - Anyway, the thing that has me so jazzed about the iPOD is that I can take just about all of my albums with me anywhere I go and there right @ my fingertips - It's a beautiful thing! - I'm debating I might even sign up for emusic.com they give you like 60 songs for $14.00 a month *shrugs* we'll see...
I finally got a chance to see Underworld this weekend - This is one of those flicks I wanted to catch in the theatres when it was out but never made it...Cool movie, some of the fight seens were blah, but overall I dug it - The sequel should be intense...
Check out the Moments in Grace gallery - I just published it last night - There new album "Moonlight Survived" has some of the best vocals I've heard in eons...Great band more here ---> www.momentsingrace.com

I just got back from seeing Bourne Supremacy (not bad) - I should have waited and went to see Manchurian Candidate...
New photos added this weekend from Sam Kininger, Earth Wind & Fire & Improm2 - I caught EW&F last week @ the Rochester Music Fest - Had a great time, I was a little skeptical seeing them play...but they still have those great voices and played there hearts out!
Looking forward to seeing Moments in Grace on August 1st (great new band! - more info here www.momentsingrace.com) & Fear Factory on August 4th (So glad these guys are back ripping shit up! - There new album is brutal! - more info here www.fearfactory.com
I can't believe summer is almost over! WTF! It flew by...
Here's a list of albums I've got in rotation and endorse fully!
The Roots - The Tipping Point (It may take a few listens but this album will get you!) There on tour with MMW & 311 (weird lineup) - More here www.okayplayer.com - I'm looking forward to the 2nd "Okayplayer Photographer month" coming up in August - It was great having my work on the site last year - It's also a wonderful place for fellow shutterbugs to get there work out there so e-mail them starting Monday if you want a shot to get your work displayed...
Moments in Grace - Moonlight Survived
Jeremy Pelt - Insight (one of the best trumpet players on the scene today)
Prince - Musicology (best studio album from him in 10 years - worth the loot just to hear "Call My Name")
Amen - Death Before Musick (one of the best albums of the year - brutal! also a fucking great live band!! - more info here www.refuseamen.com )
Amel Larrieux - Bravebird (gorgeous voice - more here www.amellarrieux.com)
PJ Harvey - Uh Huh Her (Her rawest album since Dry - She wrote, produced and played all of the instruments except for percussion on this one - Awesome album)
It would be nice if Fishbone got there shit together and put out a new studio record this year!
If you didn't know HELMET IS BACK! How cool is this!?!?! They have a new studio album that drops in Sept and there on tour right after that to support it - I can't wait...
Also just a reminder for you collectors there is a "limited edition prints" page up on the site - On the home page scroll down to the "Copyright info tab" click on that and then when that page opens @ the very bottom is a limited edition prints tab v'iola...
I keep forgetting to do this to - I want give a BIG THANK YOU to Jason Koransky editor @ Downbeat for having me cover the Rochester International Jazz Fest this year "still the best jazz zine in the world!"
Sometimes even though I've been doing this for 10 years I have a hard time getting press credentials - What a pain in the ass it is to shoot nowadays you need to get a photo pass and a spot on the list for whatever show you want to cover and you have to clear that with everyone and there mother, fucking publicist, management etc etc etc - Then you get to the show and they only give you three fucking songs to shoot! - What a joke! (I'm off on a rant) I've got more to say on this later....right now I'm going to listen to this new Russell Malone & Benny Green album...
peace

I had a chance to publish a few galleries this weekend from my coverage @ the Rochester International Jazz Festival - You can see new galleries from:
"Russell Malone & Benny Green": - There show @ the Kilbourn Hall was one of the highlights of the week - I remember vividly Mr Malone playing an old Ray Charles classic "I Can't Stop Loving You" in tribute to the R&B legend and after the final notes were played there wasn't a dry eye in the house...The crowd erupted into a standing ovation that lasted five minutes... They are two of the best players on the scene - Go and pick up "Jazz @ the Bistro" this album really showcases there playing....Enjoy the gallery
"Jeremy Pelt": It's hard to believe this cat is only 26...I caught both his sets @ The MAX and Mr Pelt and hid band were absolutely brilliant - There's something about Jeremy's stage presence and stance when he plays that envokes images of the legendary Miles Davis - Mr Pelt's "Close to My Heart" album has not left my cd player all month! - If you haven't had the chance to hear any of this album go pick it up - His cense of melody and song/string arrangements are wonderful...
"James Blood Ulmer": The legend! This gentleman has played with some of the greats...It was a real treat to see him play - Just Blood his guitar and that trademark voice, brilliant!
I will be adding more galleries this week from "Rite of Strings", "Walter Wolfman", "Melvin Sparks" and more...

Yesterday 6/04/04 was the 1st night of the RIJF I missed David Sanborn (never really been a big fan of the la la jazz anyway *shrugs*) but I did catch an exceptional set from Matthias Lupri Group w/Donny McCaslin - Matthias is an amazing Modern jazz vibraphonist (check him out live if you have the opportunity, you'll be kicking yourself if you miss it) - Tonight is going to be amazing Sam Kininger & Oscar Petterson! can't wait...
I had a chance to catch DJ Rap last night after shooting @ the fest she is even more gorgeous in person & gives great big hugs!! - Her set was sick as hell, mixing skills are flawless, track selection was wicked - The club had a proper sound system and the vibe was lovely...She played @ a killer new club here in the City called "ELEMENT" (I want to big up Herb! thanx for taking care of me @ the club your the bomb!)
Allright gotta bounce I'm off to get ready for the Jazz Fest tonight...hopefully there's going to be some great after hours music @ the Crown Plaza, you never now who's going to show up and sit in down there...
~sending positive vibes~

I've gotten a few e-mails in regards to some folks not seeing all of the images loaded when looking @ a gallery - I'm working on a format that will fix that - In the meantime if you get to a gallery and there are a few images not showing just right click and refresh, that should do it (yes it's that simple)...
If the problem persists give me a shout and let me know which gallery you found the issues with...
I just did a scrub in all of the galleries and everything should be cool @ this point, but *shrugs* there may still be bugs until I get the "pre-loaded-images" update implemented...

Just want to give a quick heads up with what I've got going on in the next few weeks - I'm going to be adding new galleries this weekend of The Crystal Method and Sam Kininger shows I shot last week - The shots came out great, I had a wonderful time @ both shows...
Sam reminds me a lot of a younger Maceo Parker - TCM had an amazing light show and stage presence, the show was so loud my ears are still ringing...
My schedule is pretty insane over the next few months - Here's what I'm shooting:
The Regina Carter Quintet April 23rd
Quinn Lawrence April 24th
The Ska is Dead Tour April 27th with Catch 22, Mustard Plug & Planet Smashers
Superjoint Ritual on May 1st
Joshua Redman May 7th
Life of Agony May 18th
P.O.D May 28th
This is going to be a lot fun!
